Your day starts at 6:30am usually and ends anywhere around 5pm. A good crew to learn from and very forgiving if mistakes are made providing you learn from them. Great management staff, very caring at times but also firm when required.

Duties

  • Supervise an assigned work crew.
  • Prioritize daily work assignments and assign tasks to various crew members.
  • Observe work in progress and provide guidance and direction when needed.
  • Communicate effectively with heavy equipment operators, and workers to ensure the work gets done in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Work with superintendent and other trade foremen to plan and execute work.
  • Set/Check grades using survey equipment such as laser level and GPS.
  • Layout foundations, roadways, parking lots, etc. for excavation and backfill.
  • Coordinate with office to ensure proper delivery and removal of material onsite.
  • Fill out daily activity sheets to track progress of job.
  • Perform other activities at construction site as required.

Requirements

  • Steel toe boots conforming to CSA standards.
  • Ability to work with others and motivate workers to perform assigned tasks as efficiently as possible.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans.
  • Must have valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to problem solve and think outside the box, to make the best decisions possible in a fast-paced environment, with rapidly changing priorities.
  • Must have 5+ years experience in earthwork.
  • Must have 3+ years experience as a site foreman.
  • Work 10 plus hours a day, 5 days a week and occasional nights and weekends.
  • Ability to work in an outdoor environment with changing weather.

Assets

  • Knowledge of GPS survey equipment.
  • E.T. or C.Tech Designation.
  • Health and Safety training.
  • Knowledge of First Aid and CPR.
  • Ability to operate heavy equipment.
  • Mathematical skills and analytical skills necessary for construction.

Roll-Off Drivers safely operate a heavy-duty truck and are responsible for preparing, loading, and transporting large mobile open top garbage containers to disposal sites, transfer/recycling facilities, job sites, and residential houses. Roll-Off Drivers are expected to navigate residential streets, driveways, parking lots, alleyways, highways, high traffic streets, and will be operating in tight environments while on industrial routes. In order to successfully perform this job highly skilled backing up maneuvers are essential.

Duties

  • Operates vehicle in accordance with MTO (Ministry of Transportation) requirements as well as all local, municipal, provincial, and federal laws.
  • Performs pre- and pot-trip inspections of assigned equipment and documents checks on standard VIR (Vehicle Inspection Report).
  • Identifies and reports all containers in need of repair or replacement to Dispatch.
  • Performs all duties as scheduled by dispatch and assisting other drivers as directed to meet customer needs.
  • Follows route assignments as directed by dispatch and complete in a timely manner.
  • Notify dispatch of any accidents, injuries, property damage, blocked containers, services interruptions, and potential safety hazards.
  • Positions and/or returns garbage containers on the customer’s property in a manner that ensures doors are properly placed, and do not block driveway entrances or traffic.

Requirements

  • Valid Ontario DZ Drivers Licence.
  • 1-2 year’s truck driving experience preferably in the waste collection industry.
  • Clean drivers abstract and CVOR required.
  • Knowledge of city streets and rural roads is considered an asset.

  • Lubricate, clean, and repair machinery and tools.
  • Communicate effectively with heavy equipment operators, site supervisor, and fellow workers to ensure the work gets done in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Check grades using survey equipment such as laser level.
  • Sort demolition debris i.e., concrete, metal, and garbage.
  • Perform other activities at construction site as directed.

Requirements

  • Steel toe boots conforming to CSA standards.
  • Can lift heavy objects at least 50lbs in weight.
  • Ability to work with others and take direction from the foreman on site.
